Peggy Thompson, 88, passed away 15 August 2021. Peggy was born in 1932 in rural Kearney County, Kansas, the daughter of Earl Johnson and Florence (Kearns). Peggy attended school in Hopewell, Ks, where she met and married, Loren Thompson, in 1948. The couple relocated to Syracuse, Kansas in 1950, where they farmed and raised their family. Other than 3 years helping her husband run the Daylight Donut in Dodge City, most of Peggy’s life was spent as a homemaker, and a wonderful caring mother to their 8 children. Peggy loved to cook, and she was renowned for her homemade cinnamon rolls, and her egg noodles. Peggy also enjoyed gardening, driving trips, camping, fishing, and playing all games. She was a member of the Macksville Christian Church and the VIP Center in Macksville. Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Loren Thompson, daughters, Susan Myers and Kathryn Kimbrough. She is survived by her, daughter, Patricia (Patrick) Goodwin, of Brighton, CO., son, Tom (Deborah) Thompson, of Ulysses, KS., son, Gary (Tammy) Thompson, of Hudson, KS., daughter, Denise (Dickie) Diehl, of Halstead, KS., daughter, Donna (Bill) Culver, of Garden City, KS., and daughter, Anita Scott, of Macksville, KS., 22 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 10 great, great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Macksville Christian Church, Macksville, KS., with Pastor Jacob Russell presiding. Burial will follow at 4:00 P.M (MST) at the Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, KS.
