Twila Mae (Pound) Hathaway, age 84, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2023. She was born on June 28, 1939 in Seibert, Colorado, the daughter of Glenn and Johannah (Atkins) Pound. Twila spent much of her life in St John, KS, before marrying Jim Hathaway and moving to Colorado Springs in 1996.
Twila was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Colorado Springs and was a woman of strong faith. Throughout her life, she was very active in her church…She served at different times as church librarian, children’s Sunday school teacher, and volunteered with the vacation bible school. Twila worked as a legal secretary at Shields Law office of St. John, KS, until retiring and moving to Colorado Springs.
Twila’s hobbies included baking, crafts of any kind, camping, and gardening. She had a love for adventures and family. When not with her grandchildren or working in her flower gardens, she and Jim loved to enjoy the outdoors. They travelled to Alaska, took trains through the Colorado mountains, and spent countless weekends camping with family.
Twila is survived by her husband Jim; her children Sheila, Deana, Jim (Kim), Carol, Susan (Charles), and Karen; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Johannah Pound; daughter Vickie; son in laws Reggie and Doug, and granddaughter Sophia.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday July 19, 2023 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Colorado Springs, CO, with Pastor Nathan Scholz officiating. The service will be available to stream for those unable to attend by pre-registering at LIVESTREAM@LBCSPRINGS.ORG.
Graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 28, 2023, at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS, with Pastor Wade Russell officiating.
