Thomas Michael Kearney, 67, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:16 PM, Monday, August 15th, 2022 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. Thomas was born in Larned, Kansas on October 30, 1954, a son of Regina Mary (Gonnering) and John Thomas Kearney. Thomas attended St. Bernard's Elementary School, Belpre, Kansas, and graduated from Macksville High School, Macksville, Kansas in 1973. After high school, he attended Barton County Community College, Great Bend, Kansas and graduated from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas with his Master's Degree. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Thomas worked for the Leoti, Utica, Palco, Peabody, and McPherson School Districts as a Teacher and Guidance Counselor. Thomas Michael Kearney was united in marriage to Teresa Louise Goudy on July 14, 1979 at the Christian Church of Macksville, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Utica, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, Erin Michelle and Kristen Louise. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of over 43 years, Louise Kearney, of McPherson, Kansas; their children, Erin Kearney, of Silver Spring, Maryland and Kristen Nolan and husband Spencer, of Spring Hill, Kansas; his brother, David Kearney, of Larned, Kansas; his four grandchildren, James Daniel, Irena Louise, Joseph Thomas, and Luke Alexander Nolan; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina Kearney, a brother, John Patrick Kearney and a sister, Mary Kathleen Sculley. Public Visitation will be held 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Friday, August 19th 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19th 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, Kansas with Fr. Benjamin Shockey officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Church's Website for those who can not attend. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, Kansas with Fr. Benjamin Shockey officiating. Minnis Chapel, Macksville, KS., is in charge of local inurnment arrangements . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church; Hospice House of Reno County; or the National Brain Tumor Society and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
