Rodger Carl DeGarmo, age 73, passed away Jan. 2, 2019 at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, KS. He was born on April 13, 1945 at Hutchinson, KS, the son of Carl and Blanche Mildred (Williams) DeGarmo. On June 16, 1968 he married Lila Lenore (Parks) at Macksville, KS. Rodger was the Director of Meade County Economic Development and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Fort Hays State College. He was a resident of Meade, KS, since 2005 and his memberships include; Past Commander of the Meade American Legion Post #92, Past President of Sullivan AMBUCS at Sullivan, IL., Past President of the Plains KS Lions Club, board member of the Meade County Extension, Western Kansas Rural Economic Development Association, Coronado Crossing RC & D, Southwest Round Table and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife Lila Lenore DeGarmo, Meade, KS; a son, Michael Wayne DeGarmo (Karrina), Oklahoma City, OK; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne DeGarmo Bennett (Paul), Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, Paige DeGarmo, Maggie DeGarmo, David DeGarmo, Danielle DeGarmo, Dana DeGarmo, Reilly Bennett, Liam Bennett, Aidan Bennett and great granddaughter Allie. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodger Carl DeGarmo, Jr. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Macksville Christian Church with Pastor Jacob Russell presiding. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 1-6 PM at Minnis Chapel, Macksville, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Macksville Christian Church in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
