Robert W. Pontius, Sr ., age 71 passed away Sept. 4, 2014 at Select Specialties Center, Wichita. He was born Oct. 20, 1942 at Nuremberg, Germany, the son of David and Emma (Steigler) Pontius. He was owner/operator of Edna’s Bar & Grill, Macksville. Previously he was a truck driver and Macksville City Policeman spending most of his life in Macksville. Survivors include his spouse , Deborah S. (Jones) Pontius of the home, 3 sons , Bobby W. Pontius, Jr (Deanna), Macksville, KS, Jason Michael (Summer), Joplin, MO, Rick Loiland (Staci), Macksville, KS; 3 daughters , Barb King (Scott), Larned, KS, Jody Michael, K.C., MO, Robin George (Mark), Hutchinson, KS; 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren .
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, Macksville with Pastor Byoung Lee presiding. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville. Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 from 1-7pm at Minnis Chapel, Macksville. Memorials may be given to the USD 351 Sports Program in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
