Obituary – Paul David Gilkison

Paul David Gilkison was born on July 15, 1927 at Larned, Kansas, to Charles A. and Olga A. Gilkison. Paul had two brothers, John and Dwight, and one sister Ruth.

Paul graduated from Larned High School and attended Kansas University, where he received aa BA and MBA degrees. Later he received a Doctor of Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado. 

While attending Kansas University Paul played varsity baseball.  While at KU, Paul met and married the love of his life, Betty Jo ( Suiter ) Gilkison. They were married for 75 years and had three children.

Paul served as a University Professor in Business Administration for 35 years before retiring.  During this time, he taught at Kansas State University, Bradley University, Southern Colorado University, and Washburn University.

At the time of his death, Paul was living with his wife at Aberdeen Retirement Village in Olathe, Kansas.  Paul was proceeded in death by his parents and his daughter Janet Jo Gilkison.  He is survived by his wife Betty Jo., son David Gilkison and his wife Bettee of Manhattan, Kansas, and son Kevin Gilkison of Lenexa, Kansas.  Two grandsons, Chad and his wife Melissa of Centennial Colorado, and Todd and his wife Amy of Great Bend, Kansas. Five great grandchildren, Eric Gilkison of Stillwell Kansas, Jack and Knox Gilkison of Centennial, Colorado, Sidney and Gavin Gilkison of Great Bend, Kansas, and one great, great grandson, Leo Gilkison of Stillwell, Kansas.

Funeral service will 10:00 A.M., Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 at the Macksville Christian Church, Macksville, KS., with Pastor Jacob Russell presiding. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS. Memorials may be given to the Macksville Christian Church or the Alzheimer's Association in are of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
