Melvin "Mel" L. Chesbro

St. John, Kansas

 Melvin “Mel” L. Chesbro, age 71 passed away on Dec. 31, 2024 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. He was born on Dec. 26, 1953 at Ottawa, KS., the son of Damon R. and Virginia L. (Jamison) Chesbro. He was the City Superintendent for the City of Wellsville, Kansas from 1977-95 and City Superintendent for the City of St. John, Kansas for 19-1/2 years. He enjoyed skydiving, motorcross racing, flying remote controlled airplanes and was a devout Christian. On Oct. 7, 1978 he married Connie Jo (Gower) at Wellsville, KS., she survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Marie Chesbro; a brother, Merle Chesbro and a sister, Lois Poole. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
