Mateo Portillo, age 16, passed away on February 6, 2026 at the Stafford County Hospital, Stafford, KS. Mateo was born on September 14, 2009 at Great Bend, KS., the son of Oscar Portillo and Maria Del Socorro Quinonez Chavez. He had attended St. John Schools. Mateo is survived by both parents; a sister, Jade Portillo, St. John, KS; two brothers, Omar Portillo and Daniel Portillo, St. John, KS.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 1-6PM at Minnis Chapel. A rosary service will follow at 6PM. Funeral service will be 12 Noon on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Minnis Chapel, St. John with Father Charles Atuah. Burial will follow in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS. Memorials may be contributed to the funeral expense fund for Mateo in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
