Lucy Veatch

November 5, 1920 — March 14, 2014

Lucy Zoa Veatch, age 93 passed away Mar. 14, 2014 at South Wind Hospice, Pratt. She was born Nov. 5, 1920 in Washington Co., Ks., the daughter of George E. and Bertha M. (Mickel) Kearns. A resident of Stafford County from 1941-2004, then, moving to Pratt. A Physical Therapy Assistant from 1972-82 and a Nurse Assistant from 1966-72. On Dec. 25, 1941 she married Wendell P. Veatch at Clay Co., Ks. Her memberships include First United Methodist Church, Ladies Aid of New Hope Church, EHU, 4-H Leader and American Cancer Society Volunteer. Survivors include a son, Harold L. (Deborah), Pratt; a daughter, Leora Wiles, St. John; a sister, Bonnie Oestreich, Beatrice, Ne; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Wendell and a brother Elmer. Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Tues., March 18, 2014 at Minnis Chapel, St. John with Pastor Irving Simon presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Visitation will be from 1-7pm Monday with family present from 5-7pm. Memorials may be given to Lucille Hall Museum, South Wind Hospice or Pratt Regional Med. Center all in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, Ks 67576.
