Loyd Ray Gross, age 85, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 at Leisure Homestead, Stafford, KS. He was born on Jan. 5, 1934 at Minneola, KS, the son of Vern and Alzina (Giyer) Gross. Loyd spent over 50 years in the ministry in various Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas communities. Loyd received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from the Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK. He retired in 2002, taking on a more pastoral consulting role. On Jan. 9, 1955, he married Allison R. (McBee) in Hanston, KS, she survives. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Englewood, CO. He is survived by his wife Allison, St. John, KS, a son, Curtis Gross (Michelle), Wichita, KS; a daughter, Kathy Brown, Kinsley, KS; two brothers, Bill and Evert Gross both of Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vern and Howard Gross and two sisters, Ruth Linenberger and Alice Gross. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 at the Heritage Baptist Church, Wichita, KS, with Pastor Donovan McNew presiding. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:30 to service time at the church. Burial will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 in the Appleton Township Cemetery, Minneola, KS. Memorials may be given to Silver State Baptist Youth Camp of Englewood, CO, in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
