Louis D. Johnson, age 49, passed away at his home in Great Bend on Apr. 26, 2025. Louis was born on Mar. 4, 1976 at Creston, Iowa, the son of James W. and Diana J. (Skaggs) Johnson. He graduated from Macksville Community School in 1994 as Valedictorian. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Kansas State University and was a few hours shy of receiving his Master’s degree in Mathematics. He was a member of the Lutheran Fraternity, Beta Sigma PSI, Zeta Chapter. He competed in the Putnam mathematics exam placing in the top 600 in the nation for four years. His health issues prevented long-term employment; however, he still impacted many people’s lives. His service to Our Saviour Lutheran Church as a member of the Church Council and the Calling Committee are a testament to his faith. His other interests included K-State sports, traveling, weather, gaming and puzzles. But he especially enjoyed being together with his cousins or calling family and friends at unexpected times. He is survived by his mother, Diana Johnson, St. John, KS; Five aunts and uncles, Chuck Johnson, Paul (Jackie) Johnson, Faith (John) Bentz, Mary Jo (Don) Riepe, Lisa (Brian) Caldwell; Seventeen cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Johnson; grandparents, Veniece Young, Clark Skaggs, Catherine Wendt, Art Johnson; an aunt, Mary Lou Johnson and an uncle, Dennis Skaggs. A memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Macksville Christian Church, Macksville, with Reverend Kenton Abbott presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Inurnment at Liberty Cemetery, Meriden, Iowa will take place at a later day.
