Leo Hayden

Leo L. Hayden, age 93 passed away August 4, 2020 at the University of Kansas Health Systems, Great Bend, KS.  He was born on Nov. 30, 1926 in rural Stafford County, KS, the son of Harry and Esther (Fischer) Hayden.  He was a famer and rancher and life-long resident of Stafford County.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54.  On Dec. 22, 1951 he married Bertie Lou (Siefkes) in rural Hudson, KS, she passed away in 2016.  Leo was a member of the Peace Church and Trinity Community Church both of Hudson, KS and the American Legion, Great Bend, KS.  Survivors include his daughter, Connie Sue Schmidt (James), Bel Aire, KS; two brothers, Lloyd Hayden, Thorntown, IN;  Marvin Hayden, Lebanon, IN; granddaughter, Megan Schmidt, Bel Aire, KS.  He was preceded in death by his wife Bertie Lou; both parents, a daughter, Denise Lee Hayden; a sister, Retha Strain and a brother Bill Hayden.  Military graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, Aug. 7, 2020 at the Peace Church Cemetery, rural Hudson, KS, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding.   Visitation will be from 1-7PM on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 at the funeral home, with the family present from 5-7PM. Memorials may be given to Trinity Community Church in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
