Kenneth Parten

Kenneth N. Parten, age 83 passed away Dec. 5, 2016 at Stafford County Hospital, Stafford, KS.  He was born on Feb. 1, 1933 at Prather Hill, Greenwood, County, KS, the son of Carl and Ruth (Mann) Parten.  He married Jan (Huffman) on Sept. 14, 1952 at St. John, KS. He was owner-operator of Parten Oil and Gas Co. His memberships include, Lions Club where he was a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient, American Petroleum Inc-board member, former councilman and mayor for city of St. John and a US Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife Jan Parten; a daughter, Kim Sallee (Jim), West Point, MS; a brother, Wayne Parten, Austin, TX; a sister, Norma Lee Bright, St. John, KS; 2 grandchildren, Mandy McMurdo (Brian), Kimberling City, MO, Tyson Parten (Kristy), Lampe, MO; 4 great grandchildren, Tyler and Faith McMurdo, Delaney and Taryn Parten; 3 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both parents, a son, Bill Parten and a brother, Marvin Parten.  Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at Minnis Chapel, St. John with Jim Sallee and Ray Davidson presiding. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Military graveside will follow at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS.  Memorials may be given to the Fairview Park Cemetery or the Southern Baptist Church both in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
