Kay Leatherman passed away on November 6, 2025. She was born in Brownwood, Texas to Curry Cullen Leatherman and Beatrix Mary Goff Leatherman on June 10 1943, and she lived a life that was bold, imperfect, loyal, and deeply her own. Kay was known for saying she would “live to be 103 and be shot in the ass by a jealous old lady,” a line that captures her humor, grit, and unapologetic spirit better than any polished sentiment ever could. She was not fancy, and she was never quiet. She lived by instinct and emotion, and she loved with her whole heart. She was the mother of three: her boys Ty Reighard (Jenny) and Curry Eversole (Kristin) and her daughter, Chrystine Green (Mark). Her children were her world. If anyone crossed them, Kay made it clear they had picked the wrong fight. Her love wasn’t always gentle, and it wasn’t always easy, but it was the kind of love that took sides. Hers. And that mattered to her more than anything. Kay loved simple joys: sun tea on a warm afternoon, little big dogs underfoot, plants growing wherever they could catch light, and family photos covering the walls of her home. She believed you could bend the rules now and then—like sharing a drink before you were of age—but you never mistreated your siblings. Loyalty was the law. Her life held both joy and struggle, and those who loved her carry both. Her children continue forward with the humor she taught them, the stubbornness she lived by, and the lessons learned from loving someone whose love was real and fierce, even when it was complicated. She is proceeded in death by her parents Curry and Beatrix Kay is survived by her children sons Ty (Jenny) Reighard of Arizona and Curry (Kristin) Eversole of Arizona, daughter Chrystine (Mark) Green of St John, Ks. Grandchildren Samantha, Tylor, Isaac, Ashlea, Michelle, Orion, Tevin, Truett, Austin, Troy and Makayla. Many greatgrandchildren. May she find in rest the peace she worked hard to find in life.
