Joe G. Butler, age 69, passed away on Dec. 31, 2021 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born on Oct. 8, 1952 at Wichita, KS., the son of Joy and Roberta (Wood) Butler. He was a farmer and life-long resident of Macksville, KS. On Mar. 31, 1973, he married Marcene A. (Rothrock) at Macksville, KS., she survives. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Joe’s memberships have included, the Macksville Free Methodist Church, Church Board Member, Men’s Christian Fellowship Group, Emergency Medical Technician, Macksville City Council, USD-351 Macksville School Board Member, and was on the start-up board for the Macksville PRIDE Committee. He is survived by his wife Marcene, Macksville, KS; two sons, Jeremy (Sarah) Butler, Macksville, KS., Michael (Lisa) Butler, Rose Hill, KS; a daughter, Amanda (Nolan) Applegate, Warrensburg, MO; a brother, Carl (Willa) Schmidt, Macksville, KS; five sisters, Teresa Gardner, Sylvia, KS., Carol (Karl) Ledin, Hutchinson, KS., Zita Schmidt, Hutchinson, KS., Diana (Ken) Bolin, Nickerson, KS., Donna (David) Green, Inman, KS; 8 grandchildren, Madison, Isabella, Laney, Lily, Sophia, Kennedy, Adeline and Bowen.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022 from 1-7 PM at Minnis Chapel, Macksville, KS., with family present from 1-3 PM. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at the Macksville Free Methodist Church, Macksville, KS., with Mike Benzel and Larry Sadowski presiding. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS. Memorials may be given to the Macksville Free Methodist Church in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
