Helen Maxine Coffey

Helen Maxine Coffey, age 92, passed away on September 27, 2026, at Kenwood Plaza in St John, Kansas.

Helen was born on May 26, 1934, in Lindale, Texas, to John D. and Eva Glenn “Johnece” (McCallie) Wagner. She received her childhood education in schools at Wynnewood and Ada, OK, attending college at East Central College in Ada, OK where she received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Helen married Jim Lee Coffey in Wynnewood on August 2, 1953. She gave birth to their first daughter, Janice Renee’, in 1956 and another daughter, Carla Lynne, in 1959.

Helen taught elementary school in Roady, OK, and Wynnewood, OK. She worked at the Pauls Valley Health Care Facility in Pauls Valley, OK, for 17 years, functioning as their Activity/Social Director and Assistant Administrator. She was also a homemaker, farm wife, and caregiver.

Helen was a member of the Elmore City church of Christ in Elmore City, OK and served faithfully alongside her husband.

To be closer to family, Helen moved to St John, KS in May 2023, to Kenwood Assisted Living.

Helen is survived by a grandson, Robert “Bobby” Bradburn (Ana), Arlington, TX; granddaughter, Ralyn (Daniel) Stephens, Stillwater, OK; great-granddaughter, MaKezzah Stephens; great-grandson, Luke Stephens; nephew, David Kip Morphew, New Deal, TX; niece, Janet (Carl) Feril, St John, KS; nephew, Jim (Maureena) Morphew, Lubbock, TX; as well as several great-grand nieces and nephews and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, brother William D. Wagner, husband, and daughters.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Elmore City church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma, with minister Joe Terrell presiding. Inurnment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK.
