George Kastning

St. John, Kansas Dateline: George Willard Kastning, age 73, died May 2, 2014 at South Wind Hospice Home, Pratt. He was born Apr. 15, 1941 at Ozark, MO, the son of Marvin I. and Eva Dorothy (Johnson) Kastning. He was a life-long resident of St. John and a heavy equipment operator for Stafford County Highway Department for 36 yrs. He graduated from St. John High School in 1959. On Sept. 22, 1963 he married Kathryn Ann Jordan at St. John, she preceded him in death in 1993. George was a past Noble Grand with the IOOF Lodge, St. John. He is survived by a daughter, Kristine Patton (Sam), Liberty, SC; a sister, Velda Young (Steve), St. John, KS; mother-in-law, Hazel Jordan, Wilcox AZ. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Kastning, and a sister, Virginia Myers. Memorial service will be 10:00am Wed., May 7, 2014 at Minnis Chapel, St. John with Pastor Tom Harrison presiding. Memorials may be given to Hudson Senior Center or South Wind Hospice both in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
