Gaylen Lyle Searle

In loving memory of a devoted man who embraced life with deep appreciation and true kindness. Gaylen Lyle Searle, age 81 passed away on Jan. 23rd, 2024. Gaylen was born on Apr. 9, 1942 to Harry and Minnie (Ochel) Searle. Baptized and confirmed at Trinity Community Church, he graduated from Hudson High School in 1960. He attended Hutchinson Junior College then received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Fort Hays State University. On July 10, 1964 Gaylen married Betty M. (Lyons), she preceded him in death on May 31, 2020. In his professional life, Gaylen previously worked for Boeing Aircraft and Golden Belt Feeders. He was currently the bookkeeper for Dudrey Cattle Company where he worked for the past 39 years and Treasurer for the Independent Order of the Oddfellows Lodge #539 for the past 37 years. Gaylen had a love for cars and hunting, with the strongest devotion to family and God. His legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and strength with the unwavering ability to find the good in all. His spirit will live on through his daughter, Sarah Searle, La Jolla, CA; his sister, Darlene “Sally” Bauer, Hudson, KS; two grandchildren, Lucas James Searle-Cripe and Corinne Noelle Meyer; sisters-in-laws, Beverly Searle Jones (Bob) and Anna Vee Searle; several loved nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; brothers, Don, Jim, and Lawrence; a sister, Carol Sue Freel; and brothers in law, Harold and Jack. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at the Trinity Community Church, Hudson, KS, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. A fellowship meal will be provided immediately following the service at the Hudson Community Center. A private inurnment will take place at Trinity Cemetery, Hudson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Community Church or the IOOF Lodge #539 in care of Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS 67576.
