Erin Evans

Erin E. Evans, age 64, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at his home in Macksville, KS. He was born on December 3, 1957 in Larned, KS., the son of Richard and Peggy (Brown) Evans. Erin was the National Little Britches Champion in the high school rodeo. Making it to the National Little Britches Finals in 1976, he rode in the 79th Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days, participating in Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling & Bull Riding.  He was a member of the Macksville Christian Church, American Cattlemen's Association and the NRA.   On April 4, 1979 he married Kathryn Dee (Dietrich) in Las Vegas at The Chapel of The Bells. Erin worked as a farmer for most of his active life with a passion for the family farm, established in 1908.  While in Macksville, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Macksville Fire Department.  In his spare time, he enjoyed time with family and friends, never missing an opportunity for a good laugh or prank played.  Erin had a deep passion for hunting.  He had a knack for finding the big bucks, remembering the date and place where each one was shot.  He loved sharing in other hunters’ successes as well.  Erin was a very giving person and a kind hearted soul, always willing and ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.  Survivors include two sons, Neri Brandon (Mariana) Evans, Macksville, KS., John Kirt (Shelly) Evans, Macksville, KS; daughter, Kandi Erin Evans, Yukon, OK; brother Kirt J (Julie) Evans, Eldorado, KS; nephew, Forrest (Darah) Evans, Eldorado, KS; grandchildren, Brianna Evans, Sierra Soderberg, Skyler Evans, Kyler Evans, Ramsy Evans and great grandchild, Brody Heinlein. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Macksville Christian Church with Pastor Jacob Russell Presiding. Inurnment will follow at the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS. Memorials may be made out to the Macksville Christian Church or the Macksville Fire Dept. in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576
