Dexter Keith Cotter, age 88, passed away on June 29, 2021 in Wichita, Ks. He was born on September 27,1932 in Harper County, OK., the son of Rex H. and Gladys P. (Gilchrist) Cotter. On August 23, 1952 he married Orma Lee Roberts in Buffalo, OK. Dexter served 22 years in the U.S. Army Reserves with active duty during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Master Sergeant. He worked at Boeing, the U.S. Postal Service and was a 32nd Degree Mason, all in Wichita, KS. In 1989 he retired as the Postmaster of Hudson, KS. Dexter was a kind gentleman who loved fishing, bowling and especially loved being with his family. Dexter is survived by his wife Orma, Wichita, Ks.; two sons, Doug (Connie) Cotter, Wichita, KS, and Chris ( Ann) Cotter,Wichita, KS.; a sister, Dorothy Barton, Derby, KS.; grandchildren David ( Claire) Cotter, Jeffrey (Megan) Cotter, Cara ( Eric) Smeltzer, Abbey Cotter and Eric Cotter; great grandchildren Braden, Lily, Evie, Violet and Hudson; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Donald and Jerry; sisters, Betty, Darlene, Dixie and Jeanie. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Trinity Community Church in Hudson, KS. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Community Church in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
