Cynthia S. “Cissy” Brown, age 62, passed away at the Stafford County Hospital on September 1, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1962 at Axell, KS, the daughter of Wilbur D. and Anna Marie (Deters) Bishop. She was a Dispatcher, a Sgt. at the Pratt Sheriff’s Department, and worked for Stafford County EMS.
Cissy attended Emporia State University where she studied Art and Accounting, and was of the Catholic faith. She was a girl scout leader and a member of the American Legion Riders.
She is survived by her husband, Jerald “Jerry” Eckles, Lake City KS; a son Charlie Brown (Darah Bolt), St. John, KS; a step-son, Steve Eckles, Jr., Kingman, KS; three daughters, Chelsea Dierkson (Weston), Wellington, KS; Christel Clemons (Bryce), Wichita, KS; Charissa Brown (Chris), Wellington, KS; three brothers, Bill Bishop (Laurie), Saraland, AL; David Bishop (Gigi), Henderson, NV; Seth Bishop, Axtell, KS; three sisters, Corrine Magotra (Neeraj), Long Meadow, MA; Christine Krier (Terry) McPherson, KS; Carla Bishop, Axtell, KS; a brother-in-law, Neal Whitaker, Marion, KS; and 12 Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carol Jean Bishop, Catherine Whitaker; brothers, Jon Charles and Kenton Bishop; sister-in-law Amanda Bishop; nephew Mathias Krier and a grandson, Jacek Gabriel Brown.
Memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Minnis Chapel, St. John. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Lake City Cemetery, Lake City, KS. Memorial checks may be made to the family to help offset expenses, in care of Minnis Chapel, Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
