Clara Marie (Light) Mace, age 94, passed away October 7, 2017 in Spokane, WA. She was born May 25, 1923 in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Paul Washington and Clara Maud (Asher) Light.
Clara was an accomplished musician in voice, piano, organ, and clarinet, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music in May 1945 from Southwestern College, Winfield, KS. She was actively involved in the Methodist church as organist, choir director, and choir member, but her paramount gift was as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
On March 10, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart Lloyd E. Mace at Liberal, KS. Lloyd preceded her in death in 2012.
She is survived by two sons, Steven M. Mace, Paso Robles, CA; Robert L. Mace and wife Janette, Winter Garden, FL; and a daughter, Suzanne M. Mace-Tresko, Spokane, WA; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Fairview Park Cemetery, Saint John, KS.
