Obituary

Stafford, KS ~

Carol “Sue” Felke, age 85, passed away May 13, 2026 at her home in Stafford, KS. She was born February 6, 1941 in Anthony, KS the daughter of William Hobert and Bernice B. (Huffman) Reneau. Sue graduated from Hudson High School in 1959 and attended business classes in Hutchinson, KS.

She had many different careers from bookkeeping to truck driving to managing a bakery all while taking care of her children. She was not only a mom to her four children; she was also a mom to her nieces and nephews and anyone else that needed her love and care.

Sue married Sam McComb in August 1959, to this union three daughters were born. In 1970 she married Norbert Bieberle, and their son Kevin was born.

In 1989 she rekindled her relationship with her high school sweetheart and on March 13, 1991 Carol married Gerald “John” Felke at Bellflower, CA. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2017. Carol and John started their RV living life in 2003 before moving to Stafford in 2015. They traveled from Alaska to Florida, spending most of their winters in Port Mansfield, TX and summers in Westcliff, CO. They would spend several months in Kansas visiting family in between.

Sue loved bird watching, her dogs, and taking care of all the neighborhood cats. She also loved researching genealogy, calling herself a “genealogist”. Sue was a wonderful artist, she enjoyed painting nature scenes. Many members of the family are lucky to have some of her paintings. She also enjoyed photography and painted several of her photos.

Survivors include three daughters, Lyanna McComb, Stafford, KS; LaTana (Mike) Newkirk, Great Bend, KS; LoRita (Dewayne) Heinson, Greensburg, KS; a son Kevin Bieberle, Great Bend, KS; 9 grandchildren, Shawn (Linda) Lehman, Justin (Melliza) Lehman, Danny (Cecilia) Lehman, Samantha (Aaron) Thier, Shanda (Ryan) DeYoung, Sheridan (Braden) Scott, Talisha Heinson, Nick Bieberle, and Zak Bieberle, one step-grandson Trey (Zora) Newkirk. 7 great-grandchildren, Delton, Bryson, and Hudson Thier, Kinsley, Gaven, Skylee, and Kraven Lehman, and Maeve Newkirk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings, Dean Reneau, Pat Oller, Mary Ann Rynerson, Billie Reneau, and Maurita Denny, and one granddaughter Tabitha Sue.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, KS. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2026 at Minnis Chapel with Pastor Wade Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Seward, KS. Memorials may be made to the Stafford Co. Historical Society or to Quivira National Wildlife Refuge and sent in care of Minnis Chapel PO Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
