Brent D. Mawhirter, age 76, passed away on Sept. 28, 2026 at his home in Stafford. He was born on Apr. 23, 1950 at St. John, the son of Kenneth H. and Ardena Florence (Eidson) Mawhirter. Brent was a U.S. Navy veteran, life-long resident of Stafford County and a graduate of Hudson High School in 1968. He had been a farmer and propane salesman for Mid-Continent L.P. in Great Bend. He married Sherre (Leist) on Sept. 16, 1988. 38 years of marriage and partners for 43 years.

Survivors include his wife Sherre of the home; sons, Mike (Tammi) Eshleman, Marionville, MO, Matt (Donna) Eshleman, Great Bend, KS, Justin (Janell) Goodno, Kiowa, KS; daughters, Mia (Shane) Meschberger, Stafford, KS, Jamie (Kevin) Kreutzer, Stafford, KS; grandchildren, Brooke & Kyle Medlin, Dallas & Janet Eshleman, Kabin & Ashley Eubanks, Colby & Skylar Houlton, Ciera & Austin Raines, Janda & Jancey Goodno, Jace & Kynslea Kreutzer, Andy & Stacey Neeper; and 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Judy Tanner, St. John, KS, Deana (Beuford) Porter, Hutchinson, KS, Leanna Lutz, Wichita, KS; a brother, Randall (Val) Mawhirter, Verdigre, NE; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, a sisters, Shirley Aumiller and Janice Willinger; brothers, Gary Mawhirter and Terry Mawhirter; a grandson Brayden Eshleman.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding.
