Alexander Jacob Robinson, 97, passed away Oct. 9, 2018 in Kenwood Plaza, St. John. He was born on Nov. 7, 1920 at St. John, KS, the son of Oscar Franklin and Lydia Mae (Beitler) Robinson. An Army veteran of WWII and life-long resident of St. John, he was a retired School Psychologist for St. John Schools. He received his Master’s Degree in Psychology from Fort Hays College. On July 29, 1942, he married Elsie Louise (Riggs) at Hays, KS, she preceded him in death in 2001. Alexander was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ, is listed in the Who’s Who of the World, Lions Club, was the first Psychologist hired at Larned State Hospital, founder of the pilot program for Special Education in KS, developed the High Performance Program at St. John and Stafford schools. He is survived by four sons, David Robinson, St. John, KS, Charles Robinson, Stafford, KS, Paul Robinson, Monongahela, PA, Stephen Robinson, Wichita, KS; two daughters, Alicia Risko, Branson, MO, Marietta Schroeder, Dallas, TX; three sisters, Catherine Cox, Lawrence, KS, Mary Grace Rich, Ann Arbor, MI, Virginia Giles, Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Louise; a daughter, Madelyn Bales; son, Jared Robinson; two brothers, Harvey and Bob Robinson and a sister, Marjorie Allen. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with Elder David Robinson presiding assisted by Paul and Stephen Robinson. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 16th from 1-7PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Missionary Efforts for The Church of Jesus Christ in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
