Adrian Sayler

Rural Stafford County, Kansas

Adrian G. Sayler, age 87, passed away Aug. 6, 2018 at Kenwood Plaza, St. John, KS.  He was born on Mar. 9, 1931 in Rural Stafford Co., KS., the son of Gilbert Wilbur and Cecile Lola (McDonald) Sayler.  Adrian was a farmer, carpenter and bus driver and life-long resident of St. John and Stafford County.  He was a member of Eden Valley Church of the Brethren; Lions Club; Kansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Board; Kansas Farm Bureau Board; and Kansas Livestock Assoc. He volunteered at Brethren Service Center, New Windsor, MD; Camp Ithiel, Gotha, FL; Bethany Theological Seminary, Richmond, IN; Brethren Disaster Ministries; Western Plains Church of the Brethren District Board; and Projects Unlimited Auction. He also served his Country in the US Army, Korean Conflict. On Apr. 10, 1955 he married Mary Elaine (Burkholder) at McPherson, KS, she preceded him in death. He married Janis Friedeman on Mar. 2, 2013 at Great Bend, KS, she preceded him in death.  Survivors include a son, Mark Alan Sayler (Tina), Hutchinson, KS; three daughters, Linn Dee Aligo (Gerard), Tonganoxie, KS, Laurie Elaine Gales (Jacob), Belpre, KS, Barbara Jean Sayler (Mark Lancaster), Englewood, OH; daughter-in-law, Joni Sayler, St. John, KS; foster daughter Kathy Abel (Tim); a sister, Patricia Jean DeVore, St. John, KS; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 23 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two spouses, Mary Elaine and Janis, a son, Michael Eugene Sayler, a brother, Eldon Lee Sayler and both parents.  Graveside interment has taken place at 2:30 PM, on Aug. 7, 2018 at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 AM, on Aug. 18, 2018 at the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, rural St. John, KS.  Family will receive friends on this day from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.  Memorials may be given to the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, Western Plains District, Brethren Disaster Ministries or the St. John Booster Club in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
